	The first edition of The Times of London, formerly The Daily Universal Register, was published on this day in 1788
	Mary Shelley's gothic novel Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus was published, anonymously on this day in 1818. Her name would not appear until the second edition, published in France in 1823.
	E. M. Forster (Howards End, A Passage to India) was born on this day in 1879
	J. D. Salinger (The Catcher in the Rye) was born on this day in 1919
	Manga artist Eiichiro Oda (One Piece) was born on this day in 1975
	Adolf Hitler's autobiography and anti-semitic manifesto, Mein Kampf, whose copyright had been owned by the Bavarian state and whose publication had been legally stifled in Germany as a result, fell into the public domain on this day in 2016. Controversially, legal publication resumed in Germany (of an annotated version for history education) and the new printing quickly became a bestseller.
